    Numbers and Letters is based on Des Chiffres et Des Lettres (French) or Countdown (English). Available online and on mobile devices.

    Quick Rules

    A "letters game" consists of ten (10) random letters. Tap/click on the letters to create the longest word you can find within 30 seconds. Each letter may only be used once as they appear in the puzzle.

    A "numbers game" consists of six (6) random numbers chosen from the following set: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 25, 50, 75, and 100. Tap/click on a number, and then an arithmetic operation (+, -, ×, ÷) and then on another number. The result of the operation is added to the list of numbers you can use. Each number may only be used once as they appear in the puzzle, and all new numbers you create may only be used once thereafter.

    The goal of the "numbers game" is to continue to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers until you get a result that matches (or is as close as possible) to the target number.

    Scoring

    For "letters games", if the word you created is valid and is the longest word possible, you score ten (10) points. If it is valid but shorter, every letter away from the longest is one (1) less point. All invalid words are worth zero (0) points.

    For "numbers games", if you obtained a result that matches the target (or is the closest possible to the target), you score ten (10) points. If it is away from the best possible result, you score ten (10) less the distance from the best result. Any answer more than ten (10) away from the best possible result is worth zero (0) points.

    In two-player games, if you score better than your opponent on a puzzle, your opponent's score for that round is zero (0).

    End of Game

    In single player mode, the game ends after six (6) rounds (three "letters games" and three "numbers games")

    In two-player mode, the game ends after one player reaches fifty (50) points or more. If the game is tied and both players reached fifty (50), additional rounds are played until the tie is broken, and the highest scoring player wins.
